Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

Tuesday's DJ has Setup criticized for committee to oversee judicial watchdog:

  • A new entity created last year to oversee the Commission on Judicial Performance is coming together. But some who pushed for the committee say the process has not been as fast or as transparent as they would like.
  • Gov. Gavin Newsom created the Committee to Review the Operations and Structure of the Commission on Judicial Performance seven months ago when he signed a court budget bill, AB 143. The committee grew out of a 2019 report on the commission by the California State Auditor.
  • It has until March 30, 2023, to hold public meetings and deliver a report recommending changes to the commission.
Yesterday the Gov announced appointments to the Committee to Review the Operations and Structure of the CJP. The appointees are 1/5's PJ Teri Jackson, LASC Judge Lucy Armendariz, Maxine Anderson, Marvin Deon, Beth Krom, Morris Ratner, and Robert Tembeckjian.
