Appellate specialists get riled up when courts are misnamed. It's the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals (plural), the California Court of Appeal (a court with 'singular' appeal), and the California appellate districts are numbered ordinally (First, Second, etc.), while divisions within districts are numbered cardinally (Division One, Division Two, etc.). Still, it's easy to forget these technical niceties--even if you're the Court itself, as seen in today's published opinion from Division "Eighth" ... Oops!
