The Recorder has Not Ready to Retire, Akin Gump Appellate Veteran Heads to California Boutique: Rex Heinke says he was staring down a mandatory retirement policy at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld when he decided to make the move to boutique firm California Appellate Law Group.

• Commenting on the “young and growing firm” and its innovative business model, he said: “There aren’t any pictures of guys on the wall with walrus mustaches"
• In fact, California Appellate Law Group (CALG) does not have too many walls to speak of. The firm’s 18 appellate attorneys work primarily remotely, though the firm has small offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego.
