The Second District Court of
Appeal has job openings for appellate attorneys in the central staff
department. Attorneys in central staff are assigned to different divisions
to work for justices as the need arises (for example, to fill in for chambers
attorneys who are on leave or to work with pro tem justices). Assignments
are coordinated through the court’s managing attorney and the administrative
presiding justice. When assigned to particular justices, central staff
attorneys typically perform all the functions of a chambers attorney, including
reviewing briefs, researching and analyzing issues, and working with the
