Justice Jenkins headlines Witkin

LACBA's Litigation Section's 2021 Bernard Witkin Lecture will be  a conversation with the newest California Supreme Court Justice, Martin J. Jenkins, moderated by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Helen Zukin on April 15, noon to one:

Learn more about Justice Jenkins’ decorated professional career: his meteoric rise from a professional football career to becoming the first openly gay California Supreme Court justice and one of only five African Americans to serve on the state's highest court. Justice Jenkins, former California Judicial Appointments Secretary to Governor Newsom, and Judge Zukin will also discuss the importance of diversity of the judicial bench in California. There will be a special focus on the Los Angeles County Superior Court’s Judicial Mentor Program founded in 2020, which Justice Jenkins and Judge Zukin helped to create. The goal of the Judicial Mentor Program is to “accelerate the diversity of the bench by connecting judges with local attorneys to increase the county’s applicant pool for new judges.” CLE credit will be provided, including 0.5-hour elimination of bias credit. This is truly an event that you do not want to miss!
