DJ articles of note

Today's DJ features H&L's Kirk Jenkins continuing series with Justice Carol A. Corrigan by the numbers, laying out numerous and various interesting stats:

To date, Justice Corrigan has voted in 487 civil cases and 732 criminal, quasi-criminal, juvenile, disciplinary and mental health cases. She has written majority opinions in 71 civil cases -- 14.58% of the total number of cases she has participated in. Her busiest years were 2007 and 2017, when she wrote nine majority opinions apiece. Her lightest year was 2010, when she wrote only one majority opinion in a civil case. Justice Corrigan has written 116 majority opinions in criminal cases, or 15.85% of her total cases. Her busiest year was 2009, when she wrote 13 majority opinions, and her lightest year was 2006, when she wrote only three.Justice Corrigan has written very few concurrences -- seven in civil cases and 10 in criminal cases. She has written 15 dissents in civil cases and 14 dissents in criminal cases.
Today's DJ also features Marc Alexander's 4th District Court of Appeal Justice William Bedsworth on Civility, which begins:

Justice William Bedsworth, the Jim Murray of judicial wordsmiths, has authored an opinion well worth reading: Lasalle v. Vogel, 2019 DJDA 5093 (Cal. App. 4th Dist., Div. 3, June 11, 2019). Beloved by the Orange County legal community for his wit and good humor, Justice Bedsworth is serious when on the bench. Written with Bedsworthian panache, Lasalle v. Vogel addresses a serious subject, and a preoccupation of Justice Bedsworth: professional civility.
And concludes:
Justice Bedsworth deserves a shout-out for penning the opinion in Lasalle v. Vogel. Like the earlier case he mentions, it should get the bar's attention. But we won't be shocked if it doesn't. The struggle to promote civility in the profession is a never-ending one, and we should be thankful that Justice Bedsworth undertakes that Sisyphean feat.
Also, the CLA Litigation Section's Litigation Update for June 2019 is out!
