The MetNews reports that retired PJ Candace Cooper will preside over a "memorial tribute to retired Court of Appeal Presiding Justice Vaino Spencer, the first African American appointed to the bench in California, will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3, starting at 10:30 a.m., at Southwestern Law School [3050 Wilshire Blvd]. Spencer, who received her law degree from Southwestern in 1952, was active alumni affairs."
