Some 9th Circuit history

In today's Recorder, Ben Feuer presents An Epochal Shift in at the Ninth Circuit, focusing on how Judge Pregerson's announcement of senior status signals the beginning of the end of President Carter's influence on the court. The article begins:
Image result for ninth circusThe U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit is every conservative's favorite bĂȘte noire. Famously, almost mythically liberal, the court goes by the "Ninth Circus" on talk radio and the "Nutty Ninth" among the conservative blogging set. It is, according to one right-wing presidential candidate, the "poster child for rogue courts," while the late Reverend Jerry Falwell once called it "the number one court of wackos and idiots in the land."
On the topic of Ninth Circuit judges, Judge Diarmuid O'Scannlain will be a featured speaker at Pepperdine School of Law's annual dinner on February 13 at the Ritz Carlton in Marina Del Rey.
