5 out of 6 Justices prefer spicy sausage to chicken cacciatore

Last night's Italian American Lawyers Association dinner drew five Justices: The Chief (who swore-in two past IALA scholarship winners) and Justices Baxter, Werdegar, Chin, and Corrigan, after a long day of hearing six oral arguments (and attending a Chancery Club lunch function). Whether they really preferred the sausage to the chicken, is unclear. What is clear is that the food and company were excellent as always. 2/6's APJ Art Gilbert (who sat with the Court) tickled the ivories with the Big Band of Barristers, and numerous judges and dignitaries attended. A shout-out and standing ovation were given to Justice Baxter on his final oral argument session.
And thus ends the Supreme Court's "week" in SoCal: a single day of arguments and two bar functions. And we even supplied rainy NoCal weather... Oh well, we'll take what we can get!
