The Short List: Governor Brown's Choices

Intuition is no substitute for getting in the trenches, working the phones, checking sources, and otherwise doing the hard work of reporting.

The LA Times' Maura Dolan, who has checked with "judges and law professors who have been consulted about the selection" and those "familiar with the vetting process," reports that Governor Brown has narrowed down his list of potential nominees for the California Supreme Court:

Only Justice Perluss was on my short list.  That makes me 1 for 6 (one of my short listers is on the Governor's list of six).  Or, depending on how you count, it makes me 1 for 12 (one of my twelve short listers is on the actual list).  Either way, I'm not doing very well this time . . . .
