THE Appellate social event of the year?

The DJ covers Wednesday's CSCHS event at the California Club in Retired justices reflect on the balance between personal beliefs and judicial duty -- Former California Supreme Court Justice Martin J. Jenkins and retired appellate Justice Arthur Gilbert discussed judicial independence, legal interpretation and the importance of consensus at the California Supreme Court Historical Society's annual dinner.

This event appears to be the hands-down winner for "appellate bash of the year," in which Justice Groban interviewed retired Justices Jenkins and Gilbert. Appellate justices from the Supreme Court and all corners of the state attended (listing them all would essentially be listing dozens and dozens), and the appellate bar was well-represented, of course. If you're reading this blog and missed this event ... well, maybe you'll come next year?!
