- California needs almost 100 new judicial positions to handle the existing caseload in its trial courts, with more than half of that need coming from the Inland Empire, according to a report released Tuesday by the Judicial Council.
- Seventeen superior courts need 98 new judges to adequately handle their filings, the report concluded. San Bernardino leads the “needs” list with 30 judges followed by neighbor Riverside with 22. Most of the remaining high-need courts are located in the Central Valley, including Kern (11), Fresno (7), San Joaquin (6), Sacramento (4) and Tulare (3).
