Biden named U.S. District Judge Salvador Mendoza Jr. from the Eastern District of Washington to a seat on the Ninth Circuit. Judge Mendoza has been on the bench since 2014, and previously was a Washington State Superior Court judge. He also spent more than a decade as a solo practitioner and then president of a law firm in Washington, and worked in prosecutorial roles in the state. He was deputy prosecuting attorney for the Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney's Office and was an assistant state attorney general.
(SoCal connections: Judge Mendoza was born in Pacoima and got his JD from UCLA.)
Also of note from yesterday, this unpub from 4/2, which (addressing a comedy of errors) partially dismisses an appeal, asserting: "there is a serious issue of appealability"
