2021 Litigation & Appellate Summit

The (Virtual) 2021 Litigation & Appellate Summit is scheduled for May 14 and May 21, with a generous bundle of CLE credit. This year, the Summit features Court of Appeal Justices Kathleen M. Banke, Elizabeth A. Grimes, and Elena J. Duarte; Superior Court Judges Samuel T. McAdam, Sunshine S. Sykes, and Audra Ibarra; California Judicial Appointments Secretary Luis Céspedes; U.C. Berkeley School of Law Dean Erwin Chemerinsky; and Jaime Santos, among other luminaries. We are excited about our shift to Spring Summits, away from the Fall conference bottleneck. Seeking Nominations for 2021 Appellate Lawyer Hall of Fame
Do you know a trial or appellate superstar whose career has raised the bar in our profession? The Litigation Section seeks nominations for the Trial Lawyer Hall of Fame and Appellate Lawyer Hall of Fame. These awards are bestowed upon attorneys who have excelled as trial or appellate lawyers and whose careers exemplify the highest values and professional attainment. Committee on Appellate Courts Application Deadline is May 31
The May 31, 2021 application deadline to serve on the Committee on Appellate Courts (a standing committee of CLA’s Litigation Section) is quickly approaching! The Committee consists of 18-25 appellate attorneys drawn from diverse sources including law firms, solo practitioners, defense, and prosecution offices handling criminal appeals, appellate court research staff, and law school faculty. Members serve 3-year terms, and the Committee meets monthly via videoconference as well as at one in-person meeting that coincides with the annual appellate summit. More information about the Committee can be found here. To apply, please send your completed application form and résumé to the Committee Secretary, Bryce Young, at byoung@duanemorris.com, by May 31, 2021. Applications submitted after the deadline will be considered on a rolling basis for any remaining vacancies on the Committee or held for consideration for the next term year. All application materials will be kept confidential among the current Committee members.
