Spotlight on the
Committee on Appellate Courts
The Committee on Appellate Courts promotes excellence in appellate
practice and has members from across the state. The committee recently
submitted comments to the Judicial Council on proposed revisions to the
California Rules of Court, rules 8.851 (appointment of counsel in misdemeanor
appeals) and 8.401(b) (access to juvenile case files on appeal). Those comments are available here.
The Committee is also busy planning the annual all-day Appellate
Summit, which will be held in San Francisco on October 9 and will feature
appellate judges, attorneys, and scholars speaking on a variety of topics of
importance to appellate practitioners. Mark your calendar now!
