DRI's Appellate Advocacy Seminar is scheduled for
July 19 in Chicago. This program should be particularly interesting as DRI’s
Appellate Advocacy Committee is teaming up with the National Foundation for
Judicial Excellence (which will hold its seminar for judges from around the
country at the same time) to provide two sessions of joint programming and a
joint networking reception at the conclusion of the seminar. Topics at this year’s seminar include:
- How to develop a U.S. Supreme Court practice
- Strategies for approaching factual issues on appeal
- Appeals of injunction orders
- The ethics of judicial disqualification and recusal
- How modern social science and economics have changed the
process of judicial decision-making
