Forty years ago, the California Supreme Court authorized the State Bar to create a Board of Legal Specialization. And it was twenty years ago that the Board created a certified specialization for Appellate Law. Practitioners in that inaugural class who have kept up their certification are receiving congratulatory letters, certificates, and lapel pins, to "recognize and celebrate" their 20 years as certified legal specialists in Appellate Law.
