CJA hearings today!

The Commission on Judicial Appointments will hold public hearings on Feb. 14 starting at 10 a.m. to consider two appointments by Gov. Gavin Newsom. The commission will consider the following appointments during hearings held in the Supreme Court Courtroom, located on the fourth floor of 350 McAllister Street in San Francisco:
  • Judge Charles Smiley, as associate justice of the First Appellate District, Division One (San Francisco)

  • Judge Nathan Scott, as associate justice of the Fourth Appellate District, Division Three (Santa Ana)

The hearing will be webcast live on the California Courts Newsroom.

Both candidates are now justices! Justice Scott ended his remarks by quoting Charlie and the Chocolate Factory:

Willy Wonka: But Charlie, don't forget what happened to the man who suddenly got everything he always wanted.
Charlie: What happened?
Willy Wonka: He lived happily ever after.

Also, today the Gov appointed Michael Martin to Riverside Superior Court: Michael Martin, of Riverside County, has been appointed to serve as a Judge in the Riverside County Superior Court. Martin previously served as Lead Appellate Court Attorney at the Second District Court of Appeal, Division 6 since 2017.
