411 on Clerkship experiences?

Law.com has Info on Clerkship Experiences Isn't Easy to Find. This Judge Says That Should Change -- Former law clerks should be able to conveniently share their experiences with applicants before they accept a clerkship, says Maryland Appellate Court Judge Doug Nazarian.

  • Judge Doug Nazarian, who serves on Maryland’s second-highest court, encourages his law clerk applicants to contact his former clerks to hear firsthand what working in his chambers is like, thus helping candidates know exactly what job they would be signing up for.
  • But Nazarian says such information about how individual judges run their clerkships should be more readily accessible.
  • Earlier this month, he joined the board of directors of the Legal Accountability Project, a nonprofit focused on preventing harassment in the judiciary that is creating a database of reviews from former law clerks on their judges as managers and the overall work environment.
  • Aliza Shatzman, LAP’s founder, has said only a handful of law schools currently conduct postclerkship surveys, and only some of those maintain the reviews in a searchable database. Most don’t allow students to report anonymously, meaning negative experiences, such as those involving harassment or other mistreatment, do not get reported for fear of retaliation, she said.

Today's DJ has a special Top Women insert, that includes a number of appellate lawyers: Laura Brill, MC Sungaila, Anne Voigts, Theane Evangelis, and Mira Hashmall.
