Appellate heros

Today's DJ has Justice Moore's AAPI service to the United States has been documented since 1812, about Asian American and Pacific Islanders' military service.

It is fitting to honor and thank AAPIs who served in the U.S. military as a part of AAPI Heritage Month. Many not only fought for the United States, but also for citizenship and against invidious discrimination. The impact these soldiers had on the acceptance of Asians into the fabric of American life cannot be overstated.

Justice Tamura

The article mentions Stephen Tamura, the first Asian American judge on the Court of Appeal, Herbert Choy, "the first person of Korean ancestry to be admitted to the practice of law in the U.S. as well as the first Asian American to serve on a federal court, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals," and Ming Ching, "the first Asian American on the California Supreme Court" who "was awarded an Army Accommodation Medal and a Bronze Star for his service in Vietnam."
