Law360 has Blown Deadline Shouldn't Doom Virus Suit, Attys Tell 9th Circ. -- "Counsel for California eatery the French Laundry asked the Ninth Circuit on Tuesday to reconsider the dismissal of its appeal after it missed a deadline to file the opening brief in its COVID-19 coverage suit against" its insurance company. In further restaurant appellate news on Law360: Ariz. Court Says Restaurant Must Face Dog-Bite Suit --
"A Phoenix restaurant can't evade a woman's lawsuit claiming it's liable for the injuries and 40 stitches she suffered when a [110-pound] pitbull bit her face at the establishment, an Arizona appeals court panel has ruled, saying there's a factual dispute about whether the dog's presence violated the bar's policy."

Also of note today, Law.com has Justice Clarence Thomas Becomes Center of Partisan Fight Over Supreme Court Ethics Code -- "Wednesday's hearing quickly devolved into competing partisan lists of which U.S. Supreme Court justices have ignored or violated ethical and recusal standards over the years."

In related action, the House on Wednesday sent a bill to Biden that would require online publication of financial disclosure reports for federal judges and mandate they submit periodic transaction reports for certain securities transactions. The Courthouse Ethics and Transparency Act passed the Senate unanimously in February and would amend the Ethics in Government Act of 1978.
