DJ appellate articles

Today's DJ has 7 Tips on appellate oral argument: perspectives from the bench & bar,  by MC Sungaila and retired Justice Thompson: (1) Prepare, prepare, prepare; (2) Narrow the points you raise at argument; (3) Consider doing a moot court; (4) Answer the court's questions; (5) Weigh possible concessions; (6) Be nimble at the Lectern; (7) Don't make basic mistakes (e.g., reading, repeating, sarcasm, attacks, straying from the record).

Today's DJ also has a Moskovitz on Appeal column titled Appellate Rituals, wherein Myron explains his aversion to pointless rituals, including the use of phrases such as "Appellate respectfully disagrees with opposing counsel" and "May it please the court."

For a noteworthy example of brevity, see this one-page decision Here, about a brief that was apparently equally terse.
