DJ profiles Judge Servino

Today's DJ profile is Into the Mix: Orange County Judge Deborah Servino relishes the variety of unlimited civil disputes. Before taking the bench, Judge Servino (nee Chuang) clerked for 9th Circuit Judge Brunetti and then had an appellate practice, arguing before SCOTUS, the Cal Supreme Court, and the Cal Court of Appeal:
  • She also frequently argued before the 2nd District Court of Appeal, and its close location to the office [when she worked in the AG's office] gave her prime viewing for other cases. "It was just neat to be able to have that opportunity to just go downstairs and watch some of the really amazing attorneys from the AG's office argue cases," she said.
She also served on the State Bar's Committee on Appellate Courts (now a committee of CLA's Litigation Section).

The NLJ has this article about Jeb Boasberg (who clerked for 9th Cir. Judge Dorothy Nelson):
'There’s an Opportunity Here:' At FISA Court, New Judge Takes Charge as Justice Dept. Comes Under Scrutiny

U.S. District Judge James Boasberg's appointment as presiding judge of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court in Washington comes as the U.S. Justice Department faces new scrutiny over Russia-related surveillance measures.
