Opinions with messages

Today's DJ's Exceptionally Appealing column, Now Hear This!, concerns messages in appellate decisions (e.g., to lower courts, higher courts, the practicing bar, the Legislature, etc.). For a really interesting example from yesterday, don't miss this opinion from 2/6, including PJ Gilbert's concurring opinion, which ends:
If we fail to adhere to this analysis of legislation, we follow a path that can lead to unforeseen consequences in the interpretation of future legislation. When the shoe is on the other foot, one may get a bunion.
