Mootness at the 9th Circuit

This famous monkey knows
all about mootness at the 9th.

Ninth Circuit dismisses an appeal in a published opinion here on mootness grounds. The plaintiffs/appellants were public school teachers suing about having to pay union fees that supported political/ideological activities. During the appeal the plaintiffs disassociated from the unions, and thus could no longer benefit from any injunctive or declaratory relief. Plaintiffs were not allowed to convert their case into one for damages on the fly, nor could the case be salvaged by adding a new plaintiff.

Also of note the MetNews reports on this published order from 4/1 here in No Need to List Nonmeritorious Issues in Wende Brief.
