In The Recorder, in this month's On Appeals Column, Sarah Hofdstadter makes The Case for Interim Appeal by Certification in All California Civil Cases. The article discusses Kurwa v. Kislinger, points out that since 1988 the Family Code has allowed trial courts to certify issues for immediate appeal, and concludes "there is a strong argument to be made that California ... should broaden the availability of interim appeal by certification to encompass all civil cases."
