You're cordially invited to a movie night I’ll be hosting next month at our
courthouse in Pasadena. On Wednesday, November 15, at 7:00 p.m., we'll
screen the new film Roman J. Israel, Esq.:Set in the Los Angeles criminal court system, Roman J. Israel, Esq. tells the story of an idealistic civil rights attorney (Denzel Washington) who faces difficult choices when his partner suffers a heart attack. Israel soon finds himself forced to collaborate with a more ruthless lawyer (Colin Farrell), whose firm hides dark secrets that will test the limits of Israel's principles.
This will be a KFF first, as we will be showing a film in first-run status only four days after its theatrical release on November 11. If you like the movie, we hope you will advise your friends to go see it.
Our special guest for the evening will be director Dan Gilroy. A Hollywood veteran, Gilroy is the director and writer of the Oscar-nominated thriller Nightcrawler, as well as a screenwriter for multiple blockbusters including The Bourne Legacy and Kong: Skull Island.
Prior to KFF, we'll offer a tour of our historic Richard H. Chambers Courthouse. If you'd like to participate in the tour, please meet in the first floor lobby just inside the main entrance at 5:45. The tour will start promptly at 6:00 so you can finish in plenty of time to get food, drink and a good seat.
Everyone in the Pasadena area is invited; spouses and guests are always welcome. Come see the movie, say hi to old friends and make new ones. We'll have pizza, Donna's famous hand-crafted salad, beer, wine and snacks for those who are interested. Feel free to come only for the movie, or for the food too.
