The Last
Tycoon draws its inspiration from an unfinished, posthumously published novel
by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Set during the Great Depression, this drama series
tells the story of young Hollywood film producer Monroe Stahr (Matt Bomer). Driven by ambition, Stahr battles his boss Pat
Brady (Kelsey Grammer) for control of their studio. But as Stahr’s
personal life inevitably begins to suffer, he’s forced to confront the
increasingly steep price of such a struggle.
Our special
guests for the evening will be showrunner Billy Ray and lead actor Matt Bomer. Ray is a celebrated writer and director whose
writing credits include The Hunger Games, State of Play and Captain Phillips, the screenplay for which received an Academy
Award nomination. He was a former KFF guest as the director of Shattered Glass. Bomer plays Monroe Stahr, the eponymous “Last
Tycoon.” He starred in the TV series White Collar and appeared in lead roles in the films Magic Mike, The Nice Guys and The Magnificent Seven, among many others.
Prior to KFF,
we'll offer a tour of our historic Richard H. Chambers Courthouse. If you'd like to participate
in the tour, please meet in the first floor lobby just inside the main entrance
at 5:45. The tour will start promptly at 6:00 so you can finish in plenty of
time to get food, drink and a good seat.
