More on Statements of Decision

Also in the DJ, Claudia Ribet presents The Cost of Failing to Preserve the Record in Family Court, which really applies to all cases, especially nonjury cases. Claudia's primary tip for preserving the record is to "request a statement of decision orally for a hearing less than one calendar day or less than eight hours over more than one day, or in writing for all others." She goes on to discuss recent cases, including A.G. v. C.S. (2016), In re Marriage of Shimkus (2016) 244 Cal.App.4th 1262,  and In re Marriage of McHugh (2014) 231 Cal.App.4th 1238.
