Southwestern Law School (and the 9th Circuit Historical Society) will be presenting an all-day program (7 MCLE hours for $75) celebrating the Central District of California's 50th birthday! Apart from being inherently fascinating, the program will feature speakers of appellate note, e.g., Judge Margaret McKeown (presenting a keynote on How Foreign Law Became a Four-Letter Word) and Justice (nee C.D. Cal. Chief) Audry Collins (on a panel about the El Monte sweatshop slavery cases). So even if you're not purely an Article III nerd, there is substantial evidence sufficient for appellate practitioners to attend. Indeed, missing this opportunity might be an abuse of discretion.
