Perspectives on State and Federal Appellate Practice: A Conversation with Ninth Circuit Judge Callahan
Ninth Circuit Judge "Connie" Callahan will share with us her perspectives on appellate practice in the state and federal courts based on her experience as both a Third DCA Justice and Ninth Circuit Judge. Topics will include a comparison of the two intermediate appellate courts (Court of Appeal and Ninth Circuit), the federal habeas review process following the California Court of Appeal's decisions in criminal matters, and the Ninth Circuit's novel approach to en banc reconsideration of three-judge panel decisions.
