Inside Advice from Justice Kruger

Today's DJ includes State Supreme Court Justice Leondra Kruger Gives Lawyers an Inside Look, and Some Advice, reporting on Justice Kruger's "rare public appearance" at a Barristers Club Appellate Section event last week in San Francisco. She discussed her interview with Governor Brown, which delved into French social history ("Good thing I read my Foucault.") and also the Supreme Court's review process (i.e., the A-list/B-list and calendar memo process).
She also "described oral arguments as an important time to discuss the law and its applications at a broad but basic level." "She advised attorneys arguing before her to quote the language of the constitutional or statutory provisions in question," and to include that language in an appendix to the brief.
No, not this Foucault!
