The upshot?
The judgment is reversed and the matter is remanded to the trial court with directions to enter a new judgment declaring Section 17 does not prohibit Gilbert from commencing other public office or public employment immediately following his resignation or retirement from judicial office, even if that resignation or retirement occurs before the end of his current judicial term.
