Today's DJ profiles Justice Jeffrey King ("Public Minded: Jeffrey King's first love is politics -- he served briefly as a mayor before taking the bench"), noting that when he enrolled at McGeorge law school "[it] was there that [he] discovered law, and torts in particular, which would rival politics for his affections over much of his career."
"King noted that oral argument is different in Division 2, where, unlike other courts, panels issue tentative opinions to the attorneys in advance. 'I think it's beneficial for attorneys,' King said. 'There's nothing more frustrating than to get up before a judge and have no clue what he or she is thinking.' "
Note: The DJ's "Coming this week" subscriber email promises forthcoming profiles of Justices Hollenhorst, McIntyre and McKinster.
