So today is Furlough Fun Day for the California court system.
My oldest boy is taking me to his second-grade class later for show & tell. I'm not sure what I'll say to a room of 8 year olds about being an research attorney -- especially because the class has already had show & tell with a mom who is a USDC staff attorney. What little thunder I may have had has been stolen.
I'm thinking about telling a funny joke we made up in chambers the other day. If certain writs filed with the trial court are writs of coram nobis, and certain writs filed with the appellate court are writs of coram vobis, then what do you call certain writs filed with a higher court? Writs of coram zobis! Get it?!
That one ought have them rolling in the aisles.
And wait until they see my David Souter impression . . .
