Back East, the First Judicial Department of the Supreme Court of the State of New York Appellate Division (one of four intermediate appellate courts in the state, with jurisdiction over the counties of New York [aka Manhattan] and the Bronx) has started something new (in New York):Starting January 24, 2020, the First Department will publish the composition of judicial panels on the Friday before oral arguments scheduled for the following week. "After publication of the names of the Justices on each panel, adjournments will not be granted absent extraordinary circumstances."
