The DJ has SCCLA celebrated 50th Anniversary with Installation & Awards Banquet -- The Southern California Chinese Lawyers Association (SCCLA), the nation's first Asian Pacific American bar organization, commemorated its 50th Anniversary with an Installation & Awards Banquet on May 22nd at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.This year's "Legacy Award, Founders of SCCLA" was presented to Nowland C. Hong of Best Best & Krieger LLP, Albert J. Lum of Lum Law, and 2nd District Court of Appeal Administrative Presiding Justice Elwood Lui.

Two recent appellate decisions reveal how judges are using generative AI to resolve disputes, raising critical questions about whether such AI-generated output is even admissible under the rules of evidence.
The 6th DCA has this local rule repeal: Former Rule 3. Reporter’s Transcripts in Felony Appeals – Repealed June 2, 2025 -- The Court of Appeal, Sixth Appellate District, repealed its Local Rule of Court, Rule 3. Effective June 2, 2025, there will no longer be a presumption that counsel for a defendant in a felony appeal has requested a paper copy of the reporter’s transcript.
